Brief History

I'm Trina, the founder and facilitator of My Heart On Me, a global community that brings people together to be heard, seen, and supported. I've been dedicated to MHOM since 2014 when I started running open dialogue sessions for groups and individuals when I was based in Tasmania for my university education. From a young age till university, I had been silently struggling with my mental health. It was when I was exposed to a community much different from Singapore, that I realized how needed it is for us to be talking about our lives and struggles openly. It was then that I started to evolve the open dialogues to a creative experience, of engaging in personal conversations (past, present, and future), while using body art as a medium.

Since leaving Tasmania, it has always been on my mind and heart to create a contextualized experience in Southeast Asia and the Oceania region. Since 2015-2018, we facilitated and ran open community events in Tasmania, Malaysia, and Singapore (with event partners) to set up booths and allow the community to engage with the same creative healing dialogue activity. Furthermore, I facilitated 3 online huddle groups, which are essentially peer support groups that touch base every week for a span of 6 months - 1 year. The idea was to create a space for intentional conversation and support as we go through life, specifically about love, mental health relapse, family, work struggles, etc... We connected people from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Kenya, and America.

Presently, the pandemic has given me an opportunity to rethink and relook at My Heart On Me. About our approach and how we can better reach the masses. Social media has been a very powerful tool in the way I reach out to our community and also a way that our community can directly reach out to us. In 2021, we soft-launched our first physical product - You Got This. is a purpose-driven card deck that covers a series of questions to spark awareness, acknowledgment, and ownership. The intention of the card deck is to spark a deeper relationship with our community and to engage in open conversations which aid our mental health.

Presently, since 2019, I have partnered with global campaigns and mental health initiatives as a Southeast Asian representative; sharing my story to break the stigma of mental health in Asia.
